About The Real Count UK

The Real Count is a UK-based initiative developing the country’s first anonymous domestic abuse data platform. Domestic abuse remains significantly underreported. Many individuals never formally disclose their experiences due to fear of safeguarding escalation, immigration concerns, stigma, or disengagement from statutory systems. As a result, national statistics do not fully reflect lived reality. The Real Count addresses this gap through secure, structured and anonymised data collection. The platform is designed to identify systemic patterns in coercive control, post-separation harm and reporting barriers, while prioritising safeguarding and data protection. The initiative is currently preparing for a controlled pilot phase in Liverpool, with a long-term vision of national rollout. The goal is to strengthen the evidence base informing policy, funding decisions and service design across the UK. The Real Count does not provide crisis services or case management. Its purpose is evidence generation, trend analysis and responsible insight reporting in the public interest.
