About The Recovery Barre

The Recovery Barre is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to wellness in sobriety by building strong communities rooted in movement and belonging. We pair an open recovery meeting with an all-levels barre and Pilates class—creating a space where anyone seeking, living in, or supporting sobriety feels seen, welcome, and empowered to thrive. We believe movement is an essential tool for wellness, and that access to healthy, connected communities strengthens recovery capital for lasting sobriety. We carry out our mission in two ways: • Nonprofit Impact — Builds cross-sector partnerships in fitness and mental health to expand access to movement in sobriety, keeping classes free through training scholarships, mat grants, and instructor outreach support. Advances recovery-informed fitness programming that reduces stigma in addiction recovery and strengthens recovery capital through accessible movement and community connection. • Instructor Training — Equips leaders with the tools, education, and research-backed, turnkey programming to bring The Recovery Barre into their own communities. Offered in partnership with Fit Pro Programming, and provides continuing education credits through the American Council on Exercise (ACE), the Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), and the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). At its core, our work expands access to recovery-informed movement opportunities that support the quality of life for individuals impacted by addiction, building healthier communities and stronger pathways to recovery. Together, we are breaking barriers, building strength, and igniting joy.
