About The Valley Project - Holmewood
The Valley Project aims to tackle inequalities, social isolation and negative perceptions faced by children and young people growing up in Holmewood, Bradford, UK. The Valley Project empower children & young people within the community to develop resilience and emotional competency, learn new skills and make informed choices and increasing life opportunities. Staff work hard to advocate for children & young people to have their voices heard. The Valley Project encourages children to take ownership of their space shaping and modifying it to suit their needs, with minimal staff intervention. Children & young people are encouraged to take risks and challenge themselves. We run free open access sessions (Averaging 70 per session) where children use hand tools to build structures, play sports, get messy, arts and crafts, hanging out in our secure 2-acre adventure playground site. Children also cook and eat a healthy meal in our outdoor kitchen every session, using vegetables they have grown in our allotment. The Valley Project instill in all our participants we work with that background doesn’t define you, that they can achieve their dreams with hard work and determination, creating opportunities for them to try new experiences, test themselves, accomplish tasks whilst instilling aspirational values to support them to reach their true potential.
