About The Xanderena Foundation

The Xanderena Foundation is a registered Medical Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), in Nigeria and in the United States and holds the public charity status of 501(c)3. The founder, Irene Xanderena RN, BSN, PHHC, has been conducting medical missions in several states in the USA, and multiple outreaches in North America since 2015. In 2018 The Xanderena Foundation was birthed with the intent of using these humanitarian experiences to serve in Nigeria. The Foundation is focused on creating medical awareness for hard-to-reach communities in Nigeria. It operates with over 25 volunteers which include both Medical (Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists) and Non-medical (Teachers, business owners, consultants, and public relations) personnel. During each outreach, the medical volunteers screen approximately 200-350 adults each mission day to cover vital signs including - weight, blood pressure, temperature, oxygen saturation, heart rate, glucose screening, consultation, diet plan, free medication, and dental care. The duration of each medical outreach is approximately one week. The goal is to take medical providers and basic medication to these communities on a quarterly basis to help decrease some of the negative impacts that not having adequate access to healthcare can have on an individual’s life and longevity As part of their mission to create awareness, the foundation also conducts teachings on General Hygiene, Hypertension, Diabetes, Stress Relieve, Signs & Symptoms of Illness, HIV, Blood Communicable Diseases, Mental Health, and Oral Care. The non-medical volunteers ensure that every adult who attends the mission is gifted with a free hygiene care package and a free book which lists all the teachings. In addition, nutrition gift packs are distributed to approximately 200 children each mission day
