About Theatre of the 7 Directions

FIND YOUR COMMUNITY, FIND YOURSELF. 𝑫𝒊𝒔𝒄𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆’𝒔 𝒏𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑳𝒂𝒖𝒓𝒂 𝑷𝒂𝒔𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒊’𝒔 𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒒𝒖𝒆 𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒅. Theatre of the 7 Directions is a nonprofit ecotheatre organisation and registered charity. Our aim is to reconnect humans to themselves and the rest of Nature through the ancient art of performance. By way of movement, voice, and story, we can become more deeply rooted into the Earth that we all share – humans and other-than-humans. Our headquarters are in the rural, coastal, international Findhorn Ecovillage in the Scottish Highlands. We also take our work international and have close links with Italy in particular. All ages and types of people benefit from our programmes, but we particularly focus on teens, elders, teachers, parents and artists. We have had intergenerational shows where the cast ages varied between 10 and 85. Some courses are for specific groups, such as our summer camps for teens. Our performances are ticketed shows, open to the public. We also deliver interactive community ecotheatre projects, which we run locally but can also design to travel to you. Laura Pasetti is our Founder and Artistic Director. Based in Findhorn Ecovillage, Scotland, Laura is a theatre director, playwright and facilitator of learning, with 35 years experience. Laura considers herself “an artist on a quest” and has never stopped searching and training to enrich her knowledge and understanding of humanity. Since 2016, Laura has been combining theatre and ecology. Her unique method of work has been influenced by the theatre practice of Giorgio Strehler, Anatolij Vasiliev, and Tadeusz Kantor; the coaching methodology of Byron Katie; and the philosophy of Freya Mathews and Bill Plotkin. In 2023, she founded Theatre of the 7 Directions and obtained a Master’s Degree in Engaged Ecology (Schumacher College).
