About Transcending Strategies LLC

Transcending Strategies LLC is a Native women-led consulting firm advancing Indigenous-centered health systems, with a focus on maternal, reproductive, and community-based care. We work alongside tribal nations, Native-led nonprofits, funders, and health systems to design models that are culturally safe, sustainable, and rooted in sovereignty. Founded by Indigenous midwife, policy strategist, and Changing Woman Initiative founder Nicolle Arthun, our work spans clinical design, community organizing, and national and global policy advocacy. From launching Native-led birth centers and rural clinics to testifying before the United Nations and legislative bodies, we bring deep experience in both community and systems-level transformation. What we do: • Indigenous midwifery and birth center / clinic planning & design • Community-based maternal health & reproductive justice strategy • Leadership coaching, board and workforce development for Native-serving organizations • Curriculum design, Project ECHO-style learning collaboratives, and training for perinatal providers • Policy research and advisory on Indigenous SRHR, Medicaid, and maternal health equity. How we work: We braid Indigenous knowledge systems with Western policy, finance, and health frameworks—centering talking circles, storytelling, and community expertise alongside data and research. Our aim is not just to “fix gaps” but to grow Indigenous-led infrastructures that will outlast any single grant cycle.
