About Trappers Outdoor

Our story is one that is informal, engaging and has been trusted since our first store in Pietermaritzburg in 1977. We are inspired by Africa, its outdoor pioneers, braai fanatics, bushveld explorers, off road adventurers, memory makers and all those who embrace its diversity – especially the outdoors. We at Trappers value experiences. We loathe fashion, fads & the next best thing. We are motivated by people, travel and time spent together in far away places or just around the fire at home. A devotion to simplicity and a human spirit that is steadfast in all we do. We strive to make beautifully considered, timeless, locally manufactured outdoor goods that are classic, authentic and readily available in all our stores. Goods that do not fail. Collaborating with leading equipment brands to grow their brand along with ours ensures a wide range of products and emboldens our objective of achieving the highest level of customer service in our stores. At Trappers you will find people who are approachable and conversational. We believe that it’s often the small things that count and sometimes all it takes is a friendly greeting when you walk into one of our stores. We celebrate our differences and have a sense of inclusivity in all we do. We are committed to recruiting people with a great attitude and plenty of energy. People who understand that days spent in the berg, bush or at the beach are as good as it gets - relationship building moments. However, ensuring our staff are well trained and up to date on all the latest products we stock is a key driver to the success of our brand and something that we prioritise continuously. We strive to make our customers feel like guests who are welcomed into an environment where products are beautifully displayed and where customers ultimately utilise our space as the first step to their next adventure.
