About Ultimate Defender Goalkeeper Academy

Goalkeeper is the highest-pressure, highest-stress position in all of sport. Ultimate Defender (UD) training programs are designed to prepare field hockey goalies to combat the unique challenges of the position. Each athlete's training environment and experiences are optimized through incorporation of extensive research-based classroom and sport learning strategies. UD refines fundamental skills and trains the athlete to execute advanced level skills through guided learning of the tactical elements of the game. In addition to the “how to” of goalkeeping, all UD programs include segments dedicated to training mental skills: getting focused and staying focused, recovering from errors, overcoming plateaus, how to reproduce positive performances, visual training, and much more. Multiple-day events also cover leadership skills, sport character, and goalkeeper-specific fitness. UD is the springboard for goalkeepers who aspire to actualize their peak performance potential.
