About UN Action

Launched in 2007, UN Action was founded on a pioneering vision to bring political, peacekeeping, peacebuilding, and human rights actors together with humanitarian responders and development partners in a mutually reinforcing manner, to amplify concerted action to address sexual violence as a political, rather than exclusively technical, challenge To date, UN Action has supported over 60 joint catalytic projects across 18 diverse conflict settings, enabling thousands of survivors to access multi-sectoral services, through an approach aimed to mitigate social stigmatization, economic marginalization, and support reintegration. These projects have been a lifeline for survivors in some of the world’s most harrowing conditions, yet their continuity is haunted by chronic funding gaps. UN Action also serves as a unique global knowledge hub on conflict-related sexual violence, collating resources from across the UN, civil society organisations, and academia to centralise guidance, tools, and information for practitioners, researchers, policymakers, and sectoral specialists to ensure more holistic, survivor-centred approaches to CRSV.
