Underwood & Associates, LLC was established in 1973 by architect Mike Underwood and has served Northwest Washington for over five decades. The firm’s early roots in design-build work shaped a practical, real-world understanding of construction that continues to inform our approach today. We provide architectural design, planning, and feasibility services for residential and small-scale commercial projects, with particular strength in projects navigating zoning, site constraints, shoreline regulations, and permitting processes. Our work often begins before design—helping clients understand what is possible, identify risks early, and make informed decisions before committing to construction. Underwood & Associates is known for clear communication, thoughtful problem-solving, and steady guidance through complex regulatory environments.
