About UNIKARST-Ankara University Karst Research Community

In 2018, the Department of Geological Engineering at Ankara University established the Ankara University Karst Research Community (UNIKARST) and initiated its activities. The community aims to increase the knowledge and experience of students with theoretical as well as practical training by carrying out projects related to the research, discovery, and protection of karst groundwater in our country. In this context, educational seminars, practical research, and laboratory studies are carried out within the Department of Geological Engineering at Ankara University in the spring semester of each academic year. Along with expert academicians, our colleagues with advanced experience in the geology and hydrogeology engineering profession support the activities of our community by sharing their knowledge and experience with our students. With these events, we bring our students together with our colleagues working in the sector and not only enable our students to get to know the profession more closely, but also lay the foundation for internships and job opportunities. We also provide our students with the opportunity to see karst aquifer systems on site by conducting a practical field study once every spring semester.
