About United Future - Think Tank

In 2015, the United Nations adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, hunger and environmental crises by 2030. In 2025, the UN reported that progress is falling behind: only 35% is on track, and for 18%, we are moving backwards. Interconnected problems require interconnected solutions. While there are thousands of initiatives out there to help advance SDGs, there is not yet one paradigm to link them together. With an open, informal network of 100+ people from various professional and cultural backgrounds, coordinated by Stichting United Future, we act as a think tank, building consensus to accelerate ambitious action for sustainable development, with benefit for all. Combining insights from various sciences, we work with an interdisciplinary process theory, rooted in social construction (political science). It explores how grassroots efforts can connect into a process of coordinated action, based on mutual helpfulness, trust, cooperation, and win-win logic across social and political divides. By linking proven solutions into feedback loops that mutually reinforce each other, small actions build up into an upward spiral of systemic transition. Our consensus-building work aims to help shape a new social paradigm for: • Governments • Businesses • Non-profits & universities, • Individuals as shareholders, citizens, & consumers Our work connects to these five themes: 1. Energy & Nature: Accelerating a just energy transition where everyone benefits 2. Peace: Innovating conflict resolution, bipartisanship, and inter-state cooperation with fair & free trade 3. New Economics: Innovating economic systems to create more benefit for all with nudges 4. Institutions & Democracy: Innovating democratic processes and “updating” institutions 5.
