Urban A&O specializes in advanced computational design work for Fortune 50 companies and institutional clients with projects world-wide evolved from sponsored faculty research at Harvard, where MacDonald focused on advanced and emerging computational developments into parametric modeling. In 2008, the firm began to focus more specifically on new definitions of urbanism, education space, workplace as they relate to climate change and sustainability in a post-pandemic world, inspired by partners around the globe--the Eden Project in Cornwall, England UK, the Stockholm Resilience Centre, a non-profit, independent research institute specializing in sustainable development and environmental issues, and partners-in-practice in Copenhagen, Oslo and Helsinki. Applying advanced computational design skillsets to global definitions of a sustainable future sets Urban A&O practice apart from other American counterparts.
