About Varitra Foundation
The Varitra Foundation has emerged as a transformative force in rural education, impacting over 12,000 children across 42 villages in Haryana’s Karnal and Faridabad districts. Through holistic interventions, the foundation addresses educational gaps by blending infrastructure development, innovative learning, and community engagement. Its flagship Build A Library Project has established 35 vibrant, safe reading spaces in government schools, each stocked with 500-600 diverse books spanning multiple themes and reading levels. Over six years, this initiative has not only nurtured a culture of reading but also institutionalized weekly library periods in school schedules. Complementing this, the Remedial Learning Program focuses on bridging foundational gaps in literacy and numeracy for 360 children (2023-24) via activity-based methods tailored for Grades 4–5. These daily post-school classes—conducted 2.5 hours/day, six days a week—combine English, Math, and child-centric activities to make learning engaging and effective. Beyond these core programs, Varitra’s multifaceted approach includes STEM Labs to spark scientific curiosity, Digital Education Platforms and Offline Learning Kits to ensure accessibility, Playground Development to promote holistic growth, and School Infrastructure Transformation to create conducive learning environments. By integrating these efforts, the foundation empowers rural children with the tools, spaces, and skills needed to thrive academically and beyond, fostering sustainable change in underserved communities.
