About Village of Oswego, Illinois

Incorporated in 1852 at a convenient ford in the Fox River, the Village of Oswego has seen explosive, ten-fold population growth in the past two decades, and remains among the fastest-growing communities in Illinois. With high-quality schools, innovative public safety agencies, and an extensive park system, the Village of Oswego offers families plenty of space to grow, surrounded by some of the most beautiful natural environments found in Chicagoland. The Fox River offers kayaking, fishing and other recreation, and the community is connected with an extensive trail network for a 40-mile cycle or a brisk walk around the block. Public Downtown Oswego offers a small, hometown feel with unique locally owned shops and events throughout the year, and two retail corridors give shoppers convenient options for daily errands or lunch with friends. Our collaborative environment values teamwork and new ideas, and emphasizes strategic planning as a shared vision for the long-term well-being of our community.
