About Vittles Films
Vittles Films is a Durham-based documentary studio producing character-driven films that nourish and revive. For over a decade, we've created lyrical, justice-oriented documentaries at the intersections of food, place, and contemporary social issues in the American South. We produce our own films and collaborate with mission-aligned foundations, nonprofits, and cultural institutions to design impact-focused documentaries using proven strategic frameworks. Our process maps issue ecosystems, identifies key audiences, and crafts stories that align to specific social change goals—grounded in ethical practice and genuine community partnership. Our films have premiered at Telluride and Full Frame, aired on Independent Lens (PBS), and reached diverse audiences through national distribution (Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Bayview Entertainment) and multi-state impact campaigns including our collaboration with Picture Motion on The Deciders during the 2024 election cycle. We're innovating on documentary form and audience engagement, combining film with live performance and facilitated dialogue to create deeper community connection. If you're exploring documentary storytelling for impact, cultural preservation, or mission-driven work, we'd love to connect.
