About VWM Families Foundation

Vanishing White Matter disease (VWM) is a very rare neurological condition that destroys myelin, the brain’s white matter. In doing so, it permanently affects transmission of brain signals to the rest of the body. VWM primarily affects children and is untreatable, incurable and terminal. Only a few hundred cases have ever been diagnosed. Since 2016 the VWM Families Foundation has worked to raise awareness of VWM, raise money for research and to support families around the world living with VWM. The VWM Families Foundation has made a multi-year commitment to provide significant funding for clinical research aimed at finding treatments for the disease.
