About Wales Tourism Alliance

The WTA and its members provide a collective voice to put forward the views of the industry to Welsh Government and beyond through Communication; Consultation and Collaboration. Formed when the National Assembly for Wales was established (2002) and the responsibility for tourism was devolved from Westminster to Cardiff, the WTA is now widely recognised as the voice of the industry in Wales. We do this through: Communication: We ensure that the industry is involved in the decision making process by stimulating debate on current issues on-line; at industry meetings and through a programme of WTA events including Wales Tourism Week. The WTA meet face to face with both Senedd Cymru - Welsh Parliament Members and Welsh MPs on a regular basis, so that they receive industry input direct. Consultation: The WTA responds to formal Government consultations where we believe there is likely to be a significant financial or resource implication for the industry. Collaboration: We proactively prioritise, raise and develop key issues with the industry, Senedd Cymru - Welsh Parliament, Visit Wales and our UK partners in relation to UK matters. Providing this collective voice provides the communication which is needed between the industry and the government departments, its only through working together that we can protect this vital industry for Wales.
