About Walking Palms Global Health

We are building community resilience on the front lines of climate change. Walking Palms Global Health is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that deploys Systems Thinking and data-driven research to design and implement holistic, community-led health initiatives. We are active throughout Latin America and the Caribbean where climate change is exacerbating local residents’ risks from drought, floods and other increasingly volatile environmental conditions. OUR VISION We envision a future where communities on the front lines of climate change are prepared to meet the challenges they confront by virtue of their geographic setting. To realize this vision, our team of global health professionals, community leaders, scientists, artists, educators, and athletes leads programs rooted in three foundational disciplines: research, education and medicine. We empower communities to address and solve chronic and acute health challenges faced by the most historically marginalized groups. Data from Walking Palms’ original research show that the historically vulnerable groups have higher incidence of disease, mental illness and chronic health problems than even higher income parts of the same community. Our programs, designed using locally collected and analyzed data, aim to build social resilience, strengthen personal connections and empower local leaders to give their communities the tools and training required to adapt and thrive in our changing world.
