About WashU Satellite

As Washington University in St. Louis' only student-led space mission engineering team, WashU Satellite trains future engineers, inspires interdisciplinary research, and provides consistent space access to advance WashU research. Since its founding in January 2024, the team has grown from five students in a dorm to over 50 members spanning all engineering disciplines, physics, business, and design. Current projects include AIRIS, a gamma ray imaging system that will fly on a weather balloon over the Antarctic, SCALAR, our first CubeSat designed to orient itself in space using custom-built magnetorquers, and GS-2, a helical antenna to support our orbital missions.
