About Waste to Power Australia

Australia has a pivotal opportunity to rethink how we manage waste and transition towards cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable energy systems. Our commitment to advancing waste‑to‑power solutions is grounded in a clear imperative: we must significantly reduce the volume of waste going into landfill and accelerate technologies that strengthen our circular economy. The Waste to Power Australia (WtP - Au) project is a powerful example of what this future can look like. As a state‑of‑the‑art Waste to Energy (WtE) facility with integrated net‑zero Carbon Capture, Storage, and Use (CCSU) technologies, WtP Au is designed to process 500 tonnes per day, 167,000 tonnes per year of unrecyclable municipal solid waste. Instead of ending up in landfill, this material will be transformed into productive outcomes, including green baseload electricity with zero greenhouse gas emissions and carbon‑negative recycled construction materials. Compared to landfill, the facility will reduce emissions by up to 3.5 million tonnes annually. The project draws on best‑in‑class technology from two leading international innovators, refined through extensive research and optimisation to ensure the cleanest possible operating environment. With a 30‑year lifespan and diversified revenue streams, WtP Au represents critical infrastructure combining sustainability, innovation, and stable, ethical, long‑term returns. We are energised by the potential of this work and the partnerships emerging across the sector. Together, we can build systems that honour both people and planet while creating a cleaner, more resilient Australia.
