About West Coast Kelp

West Coast Kelp Ltd. is a leader in kelp cultivation and restoration, proudly operating on Vancouver Island in the traditional territories of the nuučaanuł First Nations. Our mission is to advance Canada’s emerging kelp sector by providing innovative, scalable solutions that support both ecological and economic goals. As the largest supplier of high-quality kelp seed in Canada, we empower kelp farmers and restoration practitioners to achieve impactful outcomes. We are also proud collaborators in kelp restoration initiatives, partnering with First Nations, environmental organizations, and community groups to restore vital kelp forests along the coast. By integrating cutting-edge science with traditional knowledge, we’re committed to regenerating marine ecosystems, promoting biodiversity, and strengthening coastal resilience. At West Coast Kelp, we believe in the transformative potential of kelp to combat climate change, improve ocean health, and create sustainable opportunities for coastal communities. Whether through consultation, seed supply, or project design and implementation, we are here to support the growth of a thriving Blue Economy.
