About West End Women and Girls Centre

West End Women and Girls Centre is the first and only open access, community based women and girls centre in Newcastle. A registered charity, we aim to build the power of women and girls, who have been and continue to be disenfranchised. We seek to drive positive change in the world, our community and in women and girls’ lives. We do this through group work where women and girls have the opportunity to meet, have fun, learn skills, look at issues relevant their lives and generally build confidence in a safe and supportive environment. West End Women and Girls Centre has been a vital part of the local community in the West End of Newcastle from estate matriarchs to teenage peer educators we have been developing female pioneers since 1981. We are powered by the local community, all services are developed based on their expressed needs and are reflected throughout the board of trustees, staff team and membership. Five generations of families hold membership of the centre. We were winners of the National Diversity Awards in 2013 and the European Diversity Awards in 2014, we are welcoming, inclusive and bold family of women and girls working together to build power. Our work changes lives and places, relationships cascade out of the centre and into the wi-er community, changing social spaces as well as private ones. No matter who you are, what you look like, who you love, how much money you have, what your religious beliefs are or where you are from, if you identify as a woman West End Women and Girls Centre welcomes you. Come and join us and have fun whilst we joyfully smash the patriarchy together.
