About Whangarei Theatre Company
The Riverbank Centre is the home of Whangarei Theatre Company, and was built by company members in the 1980's. We currently produce 3 or 4 shows each year, with the majority being musicals. Whangarei Theatre Company is run by the Executive Committee who are elected annually and meet monthly, and are expected to follow the Code of Conduct. The Riverbank Centre contains a main auditorium, the smaller Hatea room, dressing rooms, a workshop and a kitchen. The main auditorium features a large stage with tiered seating for 170, an orchestra pit and a control room. The smaller Hatea room features a stage, the bar and seating for 100. It is used for dining before performances, and is ideal for private functions such as meetings and parties. The facilities in the Riverbank Centre can be hired, and packages can be developed to include the use of the company’s technical equipment subject to availability.
