About Wildlife & People Suriname (WPS)

We are an organization founded and located in Suriname, committed to the conservation of nature. To achieve this, we work together with local communities who live in and depend on the natural environment. The projects we focus on primarily involve the protection and monitoring of (threatened) animal species and nature reserves, strengthening local communities in monitoring wildlife and protected areas, and involving them in project activities. In this way, the communities also benefit from protecting animal species and natural areas. Mission To protect wildlife species to reach beneficial co-existence with indigenous and local communities through research, conservation and sustainable livelihoods. Vision Wildlife populations are healthy, and the protection of these species is beneficial for humanity and the planet.
