About World Sufficiency Lab

The World Sufficiency Lab (WSL) is a pioneering non-profit and independent think-to-do tank headquartered in Paris, with national hubs across the globe. WSL is grounded in the belief that meeting fundamental human needs within ecological limits is not only possible, but essential. Drawing on Manfred Max-Neef’s Human Needs Framework and the ethical-scientific theoretical foundations behind the sufficiency concept, WSL champions sufficiency as a guiding principle for governance, business, and everyday life. As the leading global resource and voice for sufficiency, WSL drives systemic change through four strategic pillars: 1- research by closing knowledge gaps through co-creative, transdisciplinary inquiry. 2- Capacity Building by equipping individuals, institutions, and policymakers with actionable sufficiency frameworks. 3- Community building by uniting a diverse ecosystem of sufficiency actors to foster collaboration and solidarity. 4- Engagement by championing sufficiency-centered governance across industries and political agendas. WSL challenges the dominant economic paradigm by focusing on needs satisfiers, instead of consumption and production of economic goods. WSL is shaping a future where human flourishing and ecological integrity go hand in hand.
