About Writing Our Rhymes Down (WORD)

WORD is a program that serves as a supplement to a conventional classroom in Montreal's disadvantaged communities. The program aims to promote positive hip hop culture, while at the same time encouraging self esteem, literacy and critical thinking skills. The program allows youth to discuss the socio-political impact of hip hop culture in their communities and provides youth with the opportunity to create, write and record their own original music.
