About Youth Assisting Youth

Youth Assisting Youth (YAY) is dedicated to investing in the leaders of tomorrow and transforming the lives of underserved children and youth through the power of mentorship, relationships, support and connections. For nearly five decades, YAY has empowered youth through our 1:1 youth-to-youth peer mentoring program, complemented by mental health counselling, academic tutoring, girls and boys empowerment programs, inclusive group activities, leadership development and in-depth family support. Our mentorship model creates a dual impact. Volunteer youth mentors build leadership abilities, soft job skills and real-world experience that helps them achieve their educational and professional goals, while the children they mentor gain the resilience, social emotional skills and connection they need to remain engaged at school, overcome barriers and succeed in the face of adversity. Our approach is holistic, accessible and trauma-informed, and we have helped thousands of young people grow, thrive and reach their full potential.
