About Youth Opportunities South Africa (YOSA)

Youth Opportunities South Africa (YOSA), is a registered youth development non-profit organization. The organization was established and registered in January 2016 and has been operational in Soweto schools to this day. YOSA currently provides educational social work services in the disadvantaged community schools. By availing psychosocial support programmes that include behavioural and academic mentorship for learners there is improvement in school connectedness. YOSA also provides educator support services that include workshops on discipline management, identification of learners with psychosocial needs, and promotion of the Positive Youth Development approach to improve the teaching and learning environment. Parent training is also available to improve parent-teacher cooperation for the benefit of learners. YOSA trains local unemployed youths in the local community and employs them alongside social workers to provide academic mentorship and psychosocial support services to learners and teachers in schools.
