About YWCA Aotearoa New Zealand

YWCA Aotearoa New Zealand is part of the global YWCA movement, one of the world’s longest-standing organisations dedicated to gender equity and the leadership of young women. For more than 140 years, we have been working alongside women, girls, and gender diverse people to create change in communities across Aotearoa. Our mission is to empower young women to thrive, lead, and shape futures that reflect equity, inclusion, and justice. We believe leadership is not about titles, it is about creating space for diverse voices, lived experiences, and bold ideas. For women in their twenties and thirties, this means: • Opportunities to step into leadership through governance, mentoring, and advocacy • A supportive network where your voice is valued and amplified • Access to programmes, resources, and campaigns designed to challenge inequity and open doors • Being part of a movement where lived experience, cultural identity, and intersectionality are celebrated Our work spans advocacy, leadership development, and community initiatives, from tackling pay equity and online safety, to creating pathways for wāhine Māori, Pacific, migrant, and refugee women, and building connections across workplaces, universities, and local communities. We are unapologetic about equity. We know that when women lead, communities thrive. And we are here to back young women to take up space, set boundaries, speak up, and make lasting impact. If you are a young woman passionate about leadership, social justice, or simply finding a place to belong and grow, the YWCA is for you. Be part of a movement that spans generations and countries, but is rooted in local action here in Aotearoa. Join us, connect with us, and help build a future where equity is not optional, it is the baseline.
