Job description

Position Title : Director of External Affairs & Marketing Location : District Reporting Manage r: Chief of Staff Direct Reports: NA Work Schedule : 260 Day Contract Position Goal & Overview : This position supports the district's mission to provide high-quality educational opportunities in a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for all students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are representative of the position and are not intended to be all-inclusive:

  • Event Planning: Plan and execute districtwide events, celebrations, and special initiatives, including logistics, vendors, sponsors, budgets, and timelines.
  • Marketing & Branding: Develop and coordinate marketing campaigns that promote JMCSS schools, programs, achievements, and enrollment opportunities while strengthening the district brand.
  • Vendor & Community Relations: Build and maintain relationships with vendors, sponsors, businesses, and community partners and identify opportunities for collaboration and support.
  • Alumni Relations: Develop alumni engagement initiatives, communications, and events that connect alumni to JMCSS and support mentorship, career opportunities, scholarships, and partnerships.
  • District Campaigns: Lead districtwide campaigns and special initiatives that increase awareness, engagement, enrollment, and community support.
  • Student Enrollment: Develop and coordinate recruitment and enrollment strategies in collaboration with schools and community partners; monitor trends and recommend improvements.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple initiatives, timelines, budgets, and deliverables while collaborating across departments, schools, and community stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or Superintendent designee.

Qualifications

& Training

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, Education, Event Management, Public Administration, or a related field (Master's preferred)
  • Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, event planning, community engagement, enrollment, business development, public relations, or a related area
  • Experience managing projects, events, campaigns, or community partnerships
  • Experience with student recruitment or enrollment initiatives
  • Experience with alumni engagement or advancement programs
  • Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent might find appropriate and acceptable
