REPORTS TO: Membership Billing Manager

SUPERVISES: No one

LOCATION: Access to Healthcare Network - Reno

STATUS: Non-Exempt

PAY: $21.63 per hour

JOB PURPOSE

The Member Billing Specialist provides timely, accurate, and professional billing support to Access to Healthcare Network (AHN) members and staff. Key duties include responding to billing inquiries, processing payments, preparing related accounting entries, researching account discrepancies, and maintaining accurate membership account records. This position performs multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while supporting an organized and efficient office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform duties accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

• Maintain Access Medical and Healthy Living Plus membership accounts accurately, including account status and balances, and identify inconsistencies.

• Research account discrepancies and complete timely follow-up.

• Respond to member telephone inquiries regarding billing, facilitate prompt resolution when appropriate, and process payments accurately.

• Contact AHN members to support membership retention efforts.

• Process daily receipts and prepare accounting entries for member payments.

• Prepare daily and weekly deposits.

• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with members and colleagues across AHN departments.

• Assist with special projects as assigned by the Membership Billing Manager.

• Provide support to other Accounting Department staff as needed.

• Support fiscal staff in maintaining an organized and efficient office environment.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of Access to Healthcare Network programs and services.

• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the RingCentral telephone system.

• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the Salesforce cloud platform.

• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of applicable accounting software.

• Demonstrate compassion and professionalism when serving members and working with staff.

• Attend staff meetings and meet with the manager regularly, as required.

• Adapt effectively to changing work priorities, environments, and duties.

• Comply with all applicable HIPAA requirements and AHN privacy and confidentiality policies.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required.

• At least one year of cash-handling experience is preferred.

• At least one year of customer service experience, including oral and written communication, is required.

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

• At least one year of experience using Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred.

• Experience with Accounting Seed and Salesforce is preferred.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work effectively under pressure, and collaborate as part of a team.

• Valid driver's license and ability to operate an AHN company vehicle as needed.

• Flexibility to work a schedule established by the department based on operational needs; the schedule may change as those needs evolve.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, and the employee usually works in a climate-controlled office environment.

• Be able to sit at a computer for 6-8 hours per day.

• Ability to stand for one to two hours per day.

• Be able to withstand hand/wrist deviation and repetition.

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds with a fair consistency.

FUNDING CLAUSE

This position is funded through external grant sources. Continued employment is contingent upon the ongoing availability of this funding. If funding is reduced or discontinued, the position may be changed or eliminated.
