Job description
JOB DESCRIPTION: LEVEL A INSPECTION Occupational Summary The Level A Inspector is responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of manufactured components through rigorous inspection, testing, and processing. This role encompasses visual and dimensional auditing, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), parts marking, and final packaging.
The primary objective is to guarantee conformance to both customer specifications and internal quality standards while maintaining efficient material flow within the manufacturing operation. Reporting Structure Reports to: Inspection Supervisor and/or Quality/Engineering Management.
Key Responsibilities
& Essential Functions Quality Inspection: Perform visual and dimensional inspections using fixed and variable gages to ensure 100% conformity to Quality Control Standards. Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Execute Zyglo/Penetrant inspection processes, including preparing product, monitoring processing lines, and maintaining equipment (tanks, ovens, water pressure).
Parts Identification: Apply permanent marking to components via electro-etch, laser, or metal stamping according to technical instructions. Data & Documentation: Utilize computer systems to generate stencils/labels, record data collection, access job instructions, and manage finished goods inventory. Corrosion Protection: Administer chemical treatments including neutralizing, oiling, and dyeing to prevent product degradation.
Packaging & Logistics: Wrap, pack, and secure products using VCI paper and specified containers; assist in loading/unloading trucks and managing palletized goods. Material Handling: Operate forklifts to transport parts between production areas and finished goods inventory. Process Auditing: Conduct Floor Inspection duties, including first-piece checks, gage verification, and master part creation.
Communication: Proactively inform supervision of observed quality trends or recurring defects to facilitate continuous improvement. Facility Maintenance: Maintain a clean and safe work environment through regular housekeeping and equipment refurbishment (e.g., degreasers). Equipment Proficiency Level A Inspectors must be proficient in the setup and maintenance of: Laser/Marking machines, Vapor Degreasers, Penetrant/Emulsifier/Developer tanks, Variable Gaging, Vision and Resonant Inspection equipment, and Computerized Stencil/Labeling systems.
Required Licenses & Certifications Valid Forklift Operator’s Permit. Zyglo Level I Special Certification (Processing and Restricted Inspection). Successful completion of In-House Visual Acuity and Color Blindness Examination (Initial and Annual). Must be available to work all shifts
