Truck Dispatcher

Truck Dispatcher Job Description We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Truck Dispatcher to coordinate and schedule freight deliveries. In this role, you’ll manage driver schedules, plan routes, and ensure timely pickups and deliveries. You’ll serve as the main communication point between drivers, customers, and logistics staff to keep operations running efficiently.

Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate, and adjust daily and weekly driver schedules to ensure timely load assignments. Assign and communicate routes to drivers based on load priority, location, and delivery requirements. Monitor driver progress in real-time and provide updates or route changes as needed. Maintain accuracy in dispatch logs, delivery records, and driver documentation.

Communicate with shippers, receivers, and carriers regarding pickup and delivery windows. Troubleshoot scheduling conflicts, equipment issues, or delays to minimize downtime. Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, safety standards, and company policies. Handle emergency dispatch or last-minute delivery changes.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree in logistics preferred). 2+ years of experience in dispatching or logistics scheduling. Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Familiarity with trucking regulations (e.g., hours-of-service, load limits).

Proficient in dispatch software , GPS tracking systems, and spreadsheets. (Experience with McLeod Software a plus.) Ability to work in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
