Electrical Estimator
Job description
Summary of Primary Functions: The Industrial Electrical Estimator is responsible for the comprehensive evaluation, quantification, and commercial assessment of industrial electrical installation, machinery integration, relocation opportunities. This position plays a critical role in the development of competitive estimates, commercial proposals, and project cost models Working collaboratively with Project Managers, Business Development personnel, Procurement teams, Engineers, and Operational Leadership, the Industrial Electrical Estimator provides accurate labor, material, subcontractor, and equipment cost assessments while ensuring alignment with project objectives, client requirements, industry standards, and corporate profitability targets.
The role directly contributes to successful project execution through effective risk analysis, value engineering, commercial strategy development, and pre-construction planning .
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities
Analyze engineering drawings, electrical schematics, specifications, scope documents, and contract requirements to accurately define project deliverables. Perform detailed quantity take-offs for industrial electrical systems, including cable tray, conduit, grounding and bonding systems, power distribution, instrumentation, controls, and equipment installations.
Develop comprehensive cost estimates for industrial electrical construction, machinery installation, manufacturing facility expansions, production line integrations, equipment relocations, and turnkey installation projects. Conduct site assessments and pre-bid surveys to evaluate existing conditions, logistical constraints, access requirements, installation methodologies, and project-specific risks.
Collaborate with clients, engineering teams, project managers, and operations personnel to clarify project requirements and establish execution strategies. Solicit, evaluate, and commercially assess quotations from suppliers, equipment manufacturers, subcontractors, and specialty service providers. Negotiate pricing and commercial terms with vendors and subcontractors to optimize project competitiveness and profitability.
Prepare detailed estimate packages incorporating labor productivity analyses, equipment requirements, material costs, subcontracted services, contingency planning, and schedule considerations. Develop labor-loading models, resource forecasts, and execution plans to support project planning and operational delivery. Participate in value engineering exercises to identify cost-effective installation methodologies while maintaining safety, quality, and project performance standards.
Perform commercial risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies during the bid development process. Collaborate with project delivery teams to support cost control initiatives, budget adherence, and change management processes. Ensure all estimates and proposals align with applicable electrical codes, OSHA regulations, client specifications, and company quality standards.
Facilitate effective communication between internal departments, clients, suppliers, and project stakeholders throughout the pursuit lifecycle. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to estimating practices, project controls, operational efficiency, and commercial performance. Support Beck & Pollitzer's industrial installation, machinery relocation, automation, manufacturing, warehouse logistics, and plant modernization services through accurate and strategic pre-construction planning.
Experience, Qualifications, and Key Competencies Minimum of three (3) years of experience required in estimating industrial electrical construction, machinery installation, plant relocation, manufacturing facility expansion, automation, or industrial infrastructure projects. Demonstrated experience preparing estimates for electrical installation projects within manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, automotive, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, or similar industrial environments.
Strong background in estimating production equipment installations, machinery integration projects, automated material handling systems, and industrial process equipment. Experience performing detailed electrical commodity take-offs, including cable tray systems, conduit installations, power and control cabling, terminations, grounding systems, and associated installation components.
Experience estimating industrial electrical equipment installations, including: Switchgear Motor Control Centers (MCCs) Control Panels Power Distribution Systems Transformers UPS Systems Industrial Lighting Systems Automation and Control Equipment Control panel to device and machine to machine wiring. Understanding of industrial construction sequencing, outage planning, shutdown activities, commissioning support, and startup operations.
Experience evaluating subcontractor proposals and supplier quotations for large-scale industrial projects. Proficiency in MS Office and estimation software such as Bluebeam, and Autodesk AEC is required. Travel Required: Must be willing and able to work at our corporate office in Spartanburg, SC.
