Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying.

Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition. The SOE and minimum qualifications for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic without more than normal supervision (SOE): I perform the common tasks of the job to be filled but under close supervision, such as performing common repairs and replacement on electronic industrial controls equipment found in materials handling equipment.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri. Corps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Effort Work assignments require moderate physical effort. Employees frequently lift, carry , or otherwise handle items weighing up to70 pounds. Assistance is usually available with heavy items. They may work in a sitting position for extended periods.

Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching and stooping is required. Occasionally, climbing and work in highplaces may be required. Working Conditions Work is usually performed inside in well lit, heated and ventilated areas. When equipment is fixed in place, it is sometimesnecessary to work in warehouse or industrial areas exposed to loud noises, heat or cold, fumes, etc.

Incumbent is subject toinjuries, such as electric shock, cuts and bruises, as well as burns caused by electrical energy or soldering irons. Safety and. Health Requirements: Employee is required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for the job and work areawhere assigned, as directed by the supervisor. Types of protective clothing and equipment include, but are not limited to, thefollowing: eye, respiratory, and foot protection and protective clothing such as gloves, apron, and coveralls.

Other types maybe required as deemed necessary by authorized management officials. If employee works near or around noise hazardousareas, machinery, or equipment, the employee will be required to wear approved hearing protective devices and anaudiometric test will be conducted as necessary.
