Substitute Teacher Day-to-Day

Job Description Title: Substitute Teacher Location: District Wide Employment Type: As Needed Reports to: Building Principal/Assistant Principal Job Summary The Substitute Teacher assumes the duties of the classroom teacher when the assigned teacher is absent. The Substitute Teacher follows the teacher's lesson plans, maintains a safe and productive learning environment, and provides instruction and supervision as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. Valid Illinois Professional Educator License or appropriate substitute teaching license required. Strong communication and classroom management skills. Ability to work effectively with students and staff. Ability to follow lesson plans and district procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Follow lesson plans and provide instruction as directed by the classroom teacher. Maintain a safe, clean, and positive learning environment. Establish and maintain appropriate student behavior expectations. Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, lunch, specials, recess, and other assigned activities. Follow the daily classroom schedule and school procedures.

Provide instruction in core academic and related subject areas as assigned. Maintain effective communication and rapport with students and staff. Demonstrate sound classroom management and time-management skills. Maintain confidentiality of student and school information. Complete any required classroom or attendance documentation.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee. Salary Starting Rate: $115.00-$135.00 per day Start Date TBD Application Procedure Prairie-Hills Elementary School District 144 conducts pre-employment drug testing and background checks.
