Technologist - Histology

HISTOTECHNOLOGIST (HISTOTECH) JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination and assisting with laboratory testing and quality control.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Examine, fix, and process human, animal, or plant tissue to preserve samples for analysis. Embed tissue specimens in paraffin wax. Cut thin tissue sections using a microtome or cryostat. Mount tissue sections onto slides for examination. Stain tissue samples to highlight abnormalities and support accurate analysis. Recognize factors that may affect procedures or result quality and take corrective action when needed.

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on laboratory equipment and instruments. Manage laboratory supplies and assist with quality-control procedures.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of 2 years of Histotech experience — required. HT or HTL certification through ASCP — required; documentation must be provided. CERTIFICATION: Active ASCP HT or HTL certification.
