Network Connex is seeking an experienced Directional Drill Locator / Foreman to lead and support horizontal directional drilling (HDD) operations for underground fiber optic and utility construction projects.
This position is responsible for operating directional drill locating equipment, accurately tracking the drill head, supporting bore planning and execution, and providing field leadership to the drilling crew. The Directional Drill Locator / Foreman is expected to maintain safe, productive operations while ensuring work is completed according to project plans, specifications, and company standards.
The ideal candidate has strong directional drill locating experience, understands underground utility construction, and has the leadership skills necessary to direct a crew and coordinate daily drilling activities.

Trak, Subsite, Vermeer, or similar) to accurately track the drill head and monitor bore progress.
with. Read and interpret bore plans, construction drawings, utility locates, and project specifications. Assist with bore planning, including entry and exit points, bore path, depth, and alignment. Monitor drill head location, depth, pitch, roll, and bore direction throughout drilling operations. Communicate effectively with the Drill Operator and crew to maintain proper bore alignment and production.
Identify and communicate potential underground utility conflicts and jobsite hazards. Lead daily directional drilling operations and provide direction to crew members. Coordinate daily activities, manpower, equipment, materials, and jobsite requirements. Ensure crew members follow company, OSHA, customer, and jobsite safety requirements.
Inspect equipment and tooling before and during operations and report maintenance or safety concerns. Monitor drilling conditions and communicate changes that may affect production or bore quality. Assist with mud mixing, drilling fluid management, tooling changes, and general directional drilling operations as needed.
Coordinate potholing and utility exposure prior to and during drilling operations. Maintain accurate daily production records, bore logs, and other required documentation. Communicate with Construction Managers, Superintendent, Project Managers, inspectors, customers, and other field personnel. Ensure work is completed according to approved plans, specifications, and project requirements.
Assist with equipment mobilization, demobilization, setup, and cleanup. Perform general labor and crew-support duties when needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Perform other duties as assigned to support daily construction operations. Required Qualifications Minimum 3 years of directional drill locating experience preferred.
Experience working on underground utility, telecommunications, fiber optic, or similar construction projects. Strong understanding of horizontal directional drilling operations and bore locating. Ability to accurately track and communicate drill head location and bore path. Ability to read and understand construction drawings, bore profiles, utility locates, and site plans.
Previous crew leadership or Foreman experience preferred. Strong knowledge of underground utility construction practices and jobsite safety.
