Pastry Prep Baker

Mix Bakeshop is a cafe in downtown Ashland featuring house made morning pastries, cookies, cakes, and tarts. We make everything in house using classic techniques and high quality ingredients. The bakery also supplies our second cafe Re. Mix with their daily pastries, bread, and curated lunch items. We have a wide ranging menu with many opportunities for growth in knowledge and skill.

We value quality and strive to shine in all departments and as a team. We are looking for someone who can make a longterm commitment as the training for the role takes several months. A base knowledge of many pastry and food techniques is expected/required. Schedule: -Required: Four consecutive 10 hour shifts 7am-5pm, or 8am-6pm.

Job Description Duties for Prep Baker include, but are not limited to: -Create a daily production list following a production par list and accrued knowledge of sales trends -Read and follow recipes and protocols for all items. (Examples include Pastry Cream, Scones, Cookies, Muffins, Tart Dough, Chiffon Cake, etc.) -Be self directed, and have the ability to multitask -Check in and unpack all food delivery orders -Use a Rondo Sheeter -Use a non automated Meat Slicer -Be comfortable with sweet and savory production -Be knowledgeable in how to use your time efficiently -Collaborate with any other scheduled prep baker on the needs of the day Qualifications: -Have several years experience in a production bakery or kitchen -Be reliable and punctual -Be able to stand for 10 hours -Regularly lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds -Keep all working areas clean and tidy and participate in deep cleaning duties -Have a general knowledge of math -Have a valid Oregon Food Handler's Card Compensation & Benefits: -Starting wage is $16.
