JOIN OUR TEAM TODAY Universal Stainless & Alloy Products, Inc. is seeking an experienced and motivated Quality Engineer to join our team and support quality, engineering, and manufacturing processes across multiple locations. Universal Stainless & Alloy Products, Inc., established in 1994, is headquartered in Bridgeville, PA, with plants in North Jackson, OH, Dunkirk, NY, and Titusville, PA.

Universal Stainless produces semi-finished and finished specialty steel long products and plate, including stainless steel, tool steel, bearing steel, gear steel, and aircraft-quality low-alloy steels for use in a variety of industries. The Quality Engineer will support quality systems, manufacturing processes, product quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This position will work closely with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, and other departments to identify opportunities, solve problems, and improve processes. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of engineering experience , a background in mechanical engineering, and hands-on experience with AS9100, Nadcap, and APQP POSITION OVERVIEW The Quality Engineer will be responsible for supporting and improving manufacturing and quality processes across Universal Stainless operations.

This position will provide the opportunity to work on process improvements, advanced quality planning, root cause analysis, quality systems, and cross-functional engineering projects. The position requires approximately 50% travel to Universal Stainless locations, including Bridgeville, PA, Dunkirk, NY, and North Jackson, OH.

Approved business travel expenses are covered by the employer. BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Support and lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities. Apply mechanical engineering principles to manufacturing and quality-related challenges. Identify opportunities for process, quality, productivity, and efficiency improvements.

Evaluate manufacturing processes and recommend improvements. Investigate quality and process issues and assist with root cause analysis. Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions. Support continuous improvement projects across multiple facilities. Support new product and process development activities. Identify potential quality and process risks during product and process development.

Develop, maintain, and review APQP documentation and quality-related records. Support compliance with AS9100 quality management system requirements. Support processes related to Nadcap requirements and qualifications. Assist with internal and external audits and corrective action activities. Review process documentation and identify opportunities for improvement.

Support process validation and implementation of process changes. Ensure process changes are properly documented, communicated, and implemented. Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, and Maintenance teams. Communicate project status, findings, recommendations, and results to management. Help standardize successful process improvements across applicable facilities.

Maintain accurate engineering, quality, and project documentation. Participate in cross-functional meetings and improvement projects. Perform other duties as assigned. SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION This position requires employees to follow all company safety procedures and requirements. Employees must be willing and able to comply with all required safety procedures, work practices, and PPE requirements when working in manufacturing and plant environments.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in office, engineering, laboratory, and manufacturing environments. Regular interaction with manufacturing equipment, materials, and production processes. Frequent interaction with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and other departments. Travel between multiple Universal Stainless facilities is required.

Approximately 50% travel should be expected. Ability to safely work in and around a manufacturing environment is required. Ability to adapt to different plant environments and operational needs. SKILLS: Strong mechanical and engineering aptitude. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong understanding of manufacturing and quality processes.

Knowledge of APQP / Advanced Product Quality Planning . Knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems. Knowledge and experience with Nadcap requirements. Strong attention to detail. Ability to analyze data and identify process improvement opportunities. Ability to perform root cause analysis and develop corrective actions.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical employees. Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team. Strong organizational and project management skills. Willingness to travel approximately 50%.

EXPERIENCE: 3–5 years of engineering experience required. Mechanical engineering experience preferred. Manufacturing engineering or quality engineering experience preferred. AS9100 experience required. Nadcap experience or qualification required. Experience with APQP required. Experience with manufacturing process improvement preferred.

Experience with root cause analysis and corrective actions preferred. Experience with quality management systems preferred. Experience in steel, metals, aerospace, or heavy manufacturing preferred. Experience supporting multiple manufacturing locations is a plus.

EDUCATION

/ TRAINING: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline is required. Training or experience in quality systems, manufacturing processes, and continuous improvement preferred. Experience with APQP, AS9100, and Nadcap is required. Additional engineering, quality, or industry-specific training is a plus.

SCHEDULE: Full-time position. Monday–Friday schedule. Flexible start times Schedule may be adjusted based on business needs, meetings, plant visits, and travel. Flexibility is required to support multiple facilities and operational needs. TRAVEL: Approximately 50% travel is required . Primary locations include: Bridgeville, PA Dunkirk, NY North Jackson, OH Travel may include additional company or customer locations as business needs require.
