Hospice on-call RN

Ovation Hospice of Denver is looking for a compassionate, dedicated Hospice On-Call Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. You'll support our hospice patients and their families after regular business hours, so they get comfort and quality end-of-life care whenever they need it.

This position has a 7 on / 7 off schedule. You'll work one week of on-call coverage, then have a full week off to rest and recharge.

Schedule

• 7 days on / 7 days off rotation

• Weekday on-call: 5:00 PM - 9:00 AM (Monday through Friday nights)

• Weekend on-call: 9:00 AM - 9:00 AM, 24-hour coverage (Saturday and Sunday)

• Phone triage and in-person visits as needed during on-call periods

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to patient and family calls during on-call hours

• Assess patient needs by phone and in person, and provide the right interventions

• Make visits for symptom management, changes in condition, and deaths

• Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team so care stays consistent

• Document patient interactions and clinical assessments accurately and on time

• Provide guidance, education, and emotional support to patients, families, and caregivers

• Follow all hospice policies and regulatory requirements

Requirements

• Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado

• Hospice or palliative care nursing experience preferred

• Strong clinical assessment and communication skills

• Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions

• A compassionate, patient-centered approach to care

• Reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout the Denver service area

• Availability for the 7-on/7-off on-call rotation

Compensation and Benefits

• $45.00 per hour for all hours worked, including phone triage and visits, paid bi-weekly

• On-call phone stipend, paid per on-call period:

• Weekdays (Mon-Fri): $100 per period

• Weekends (Sat-Sun): $150 per period

• Ovation-recognized holidays: double the rate ($200 weekday / $300 weekend)

• Up to $800 in on-call stipends per 7-day rotation, before hourly pay and holiday rates

• Mileage reimbursement for patient visits

• Every other week off with the 7-on/7-off schedule
