Sterile Processing Tech

General Function: The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilizing the supplies and equipment for West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital and it’s community clinics following the infection control practices set forth by West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. Works under the guidance and direction of the Surgical Services Supervisor.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Educational Requirements: High School Education or GED Experience Requirements: Health related experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred (minimal 1-year experience). ​​​​​​​ Special Requirements: Verbal and written communication skills. JOB RELATED HAZARDS Able to walk three miles per shift on unit.

Must be able to assume the following positions on an occasional basis (0-33% of working day: sitting, kneeling, reaching overhead, lifting (heavy 25-50 lbs. +), carry, pushing 100 feet, pulling 100 feet. Must be able to assume the following positions on a frequent basis (33-66% of working day): standing, walking, stooping, lifting (light 0-25 lbs.)

May come into contact with communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, and hazardous materials. ​​​​​​​ Potential for increased stress levels.
