Job Description: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) OBGYN Location: Smithtown, NY Hours/Days: 5/8.5 hour days, Mon-Fri 8a-6p Organization: New York Health (NYH) In This Role, You Will: Patient Care: Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests.

Record patient interview, history, and chief complaint. Provide patient education concerning medications, management of diseases, home treatments, and special diets. Escort patients to exam rooms. Set up procedural spaces and sterilize instruments for Gynecologic procedures and exams. Assist physicians with exams and/or procedures.

Record patient information such as vital signs, weight, and changes in medical history before each appointment. Support & Coordination: Assist in maintaining the medical inventory and placing orders for new materials as needed. Assist in transitioning hard copy records to digital format. Manage physician inbox and prioritize tasks assigned via ONCO EMR.

Work in the front office taking care of tasks such as answering phone calls and greeting patients as they enter the facility ensuring a welcoming environment to patients. Patient Interaction: Ensure patients are prepared for exams and procedures. Provide support with patient education on treatment plans and disease management.

Create a welcoming atmosphere for patients and assist them with any inquiries. Clinical Support: Assist physicians with exams and procedures. Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments. Perform basic lab tests and assist with phlebotomy and the collection of other lab specimens. Medication Administration: Prepare and administer injections.

Administer and document medications under a physician’s order, following the five (5) medication rights to reduce the potential for medical errors We Require: Current NYS LPN license required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals.

Experience with EMR’s. Reliable transportation to any of NYH location for patient care needs.
