Contract Specialist

You will serve as a Contract Specialist in the Procurement Group, Weapons & Energetics Department of NAVAIRWARCENWPNDIV CHINA LAKE.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate: At the DA-03 Level: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05-08) or pay band (DA-02) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector in order to perform the duties of a Contract Specialist.

Specialized experiences must include duties related to the following: (1) Entering data into automated systems and reviewing transactions to ensure data is correct; (2) Preparing written requirements; and (3) Reading and interpreting guidance and policies. At the DA-02 Level: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-01-04) or pay band (DA-01) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector in order to perform the duties of a Contract Specialist.

Specialized experiences must include duties related to the following: (1) Reviewing transactions to ensure data is correct; (2) Gathering and analyzing data to maintain logs, preparing reports and documents; and (3) Communicating effectively in writing. Applicants must meet the following Basic Education Requirement of the Department of Defense Qualification Standard for Contracting Positions: A bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution authorized to grant baccalaureate degrees. NOTE: The education requirement listed above applies only to individuals entering DoD GS-1102 positions on or after October 1, 2000.

Current civilian personnel in DoD who occupied GS-1102 positions or contracting positions with authority to award or administer contracts above the simplified acquisition threshold in an Executive Department on or before September 30, 2000 are exempt from meeting this requirement. Current military members who occupied a similar occupational specialty to the GS (or equivalent) 1102 or before September 30, 2000 are also exempt from meeting this requirement.

At the DA-03 Level: Successful completion of 2 full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education OR Successful completion of masters degree or equivalent graduate degree or LL.B. or J.D. At the DA-02 Level: Successful completion of 1 full academic year of graduate education OR Successful completion of law school or superior academic achievement
