Painter / Sandblaster

The Mundy Companies, a leader in the industrial maintenance, services, and construction fields, is currently hiring the following position for a 3 week project in Texas City, Texas area: PAINTER / SANDBLASTER 6 x 10 + OT as needed 3 WEEKS MUST BE WILLING TO HELP OTHER CRAFTS. Successful candidates will have a minimum of three (3) years of continuous and current experience as an Industrial Painter in a petrochemical, industrial, or manufacturing environment.

Industrial Painters prepare wood and metal surfaces for painting, and paint equipment, parts, machinery, buildings, and other working areas using a spray gun, brush, and rollers. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Reads work order or receives instructions verbally Prepares surface using method appropriate for surface to be painted May fill cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color, according to specifications using paddle or mechanical mixer May erect scaffolding or set up ladder to perform tasks above ground level Apply paint to surface using a spray gun, brush, or roller Clean Surfaces of metal or hard compositions to remove sca;e, sand, paint, grease, tar or dirt to prepare specified finish using abrasive blasting equipment shovel or pour abrasive of specified grade into machine hopper mask specified areas of object to protect from sandblasting regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle direct blast or flow of abrasive ve laden air, gas, or liquid over surface to be blasted The successful candidate will maintain a high degree of personal safety and environmental awareness at all time.

This positions requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions in a safe, efficient manner. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing is also required. All qualified applicants must be craft certified or possess the ability to pass a craft test, as well as the ability to pass a criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen and other qualifications as required.
