Construction Senior Associate/Associate Director

Barbican, London, United KingdomPosted Oct 15, 2026

Job description

Role profile "A very strong construction practice" – Chambers UK We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious solicitor at experienced Senior Associate or Associate Director level to join our highly regarded national non-contentious construction team based in either Bristol or London with a focus on a broad spectrum of development work, with specific focus in the "Living" sector.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to lead transactions (working alongside a junior associate) and to guide and manage client stakeholders through developments. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-respected team with a wide variety of interesting work and clients, and a real opportunity to grow and develop your own practice.

The practice Our non-contentious construction practice is truly comprehensive in scope and features leading work on a national scale and is a practice that the firm is actively looking to expand to compliment and support Osborne Clarke's strategic direction. We advise on nationally important infrastructure projects, such as regeneration and iconic development projects, mixed use and residential development, commercial and logistics projects, major retail developments, infrastructure and energy generation (primarily through renewable sources).

Our work ranges from initial procurement advice, legal project management, through to negotiating complex construction procurement agreements, whether bespoke or based on the myriad of industry standard forms commonly used in the UK, and whether leading or working alongside other advisers. We also work closely with our contentious construction, major projects, renewables, commercial real estate and banking and project finance teams.

We advise clients across a number of sectors who are leaders in their fields, including Marq / Ares, Hochtief, Mc. Laren Living, UPP, Greystar, Indurent, Barratt and David Wilson Homes, Taylor Wimpey, Places for People, Related Argent and Equitix. The team The non-contentious construction team is led by partners Phil Davies, Alexandra Gower, Duncan Parker and Nicholas Grewal and is based across our Bristol & London offices.

The wider team comprises 1 Legal Director, 3 Associate Directors, 6 Senior Associates, 4 Associates, 2 Trainees and 2 Paralegals. Technical skills and experience You will have knowledge and experience of non-contentious construction matters which will have been gained at a well-respected City or National firm. You will be highly motivated and interested in getting involved in a broad range of work working on different project types and across different sectors, but ideally with experience advising on developments across the "Living" sector, across all tenure types including forward funds, BTR, affordable and mixed use developments.

You will be versatile and able to work across a range of different matters across different sectors and will be used to working on matters where there are multiple interested parties (for example where there are forward funding arrangements or there is a project finance-led structure involved). Due to the nature of the work and the structure of the team, we are ideally looking for an experienced Senior Associate or Associate Director candidate, although we will consider candidates with more or less experience.

Your career development Like all our lawyers, you will benefit from our multi-award winning career development programme. At each stage of your career this provides you with: clear expectations of your role and what it takes to progress; high quality clients and work, with early responsibility and client exposure; thorough assessment and individual feedback from a range of experienced colleagues; robust technical training with early skills based development, increasingly tailored to you; and reward for your contribution, progression and potential, rather than PQE or tenure.
