Van Sales Representative
Job description
The Van Sales Representative is responsible for driving profitable sales growth by selling, delivering, merchandising, and promoting the Company's products to customers within an assigned territory. The incumbent is accountable for maximizing route productivity, maintaining excellent customer relationships, ensuring product availability and visibility, safeguarding Company assets, and delivering exceptional customer service while adhering to Company policies, safety standards, and legal requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales Growth & Customer Development Achieve or exceed daily, weekly, and monthly sales, volume, and distribution targets. Execute the daily route plan, ensuring all scheduled customers are visited. Identify opportunities to increase sales through product penetration, upselling, and cross-selling. Introduce new products, promotions, and trade initiatives to customers.
Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to encourage repeat business and customer loyalty. Identify and secure new customers within the assigned territory. Gather market intelligence on competitor activities, pricing, and customer trends and communicate findings to management. Route Execution & Product Distribution Load, transport, and deliver products safely and efficiently.
Verify delivery quantities against invoices and customer orders. Ensure products are handled in accordance with Company quality standards. Rotate stock using First-In-First-Out (FIFO) principles. Minimize product damages, expiries, and returns. Ensure high product availability and merchandising standards at customer locations.
Execute all route activities in accordance with established schedules and productivity standards. Merchandising & Brand Execution Ensure Company products are properly displayed and merchandised. Implement promotional activities and point-of-sale materials. Monitor shelf availability and recommend replenishment opportunities.
Ensure pricing and product presentation comply with Company standards. Cash, Inventory & Asset Accountability Collect payments and issue receipts in accordance with Company procedures. Accurately reconcile daily cash collections, inventory, and invoices. Maintain accurate sales, returns, credits, and collection records.
Safeguard Company inventory, cash, and equipment. Report discrepancies immediately. Vehicle & Equipment Management Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. Maintain Company vehicles in a clean, safe, and roadworthy condition. Report defects, accidents, or maintenance issues promptly. Operate Company vehicles safely and in compliance with traffic laws and Company policies.
Compliance, Safety & Administration Comply with all Company policies, procedures, and Code of Conduct. Observe all Occupational Safety and Health requirements. Complete required reports accurately and within established timelines. Attend sales meetings, training programmes, and team briefings. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum of three (3) CSEC/GCE O'Level passes or equivalent. Valid Heavy T Driver's Permit. Defensive driving certification is an asset. Certificate or training in Sales or Customer Service would be advantageous. Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years' experience in Van Sales, Route Sales, or FMCG Distribution. Experience in cash handling and inventory reconciliation.
Experience using handheld sales devices or mobile sales applications would be an asset.
