Description of Work Please note that all positions close at 12:00 AM on the posted closing date. You must apply by 11:59 PM prior to the posted closing date. Position will serve as Administrative Specialist I in the Hoke County Maintenance Office located in Raeford. Duties include answering telephone; radio communications; greeting customers; maintaining department's inventory for items stocked; processing payroll and invoices in SAP; operating computer for data entry, typing correspondence and reports such as accident and worker's compensation; and other duties as assigned by the County Maintenance Engineer. Position is subject to work nights and weekends as needed during inclement weather. Applicant must have the ability to work independently; prioritize daily tasks; independently process technical information; follow oral and written instructions; operate copy machine, fax machine, multi-line telephone system, and scanner. Applicant should be able to present information clearly and concisely in oral and written form in order to communicate with the public, DOT employees, and governmental officials. Applicant must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC08 $39,244 - $68,679 Management prefers applicants with the following: Customer service experience, including resolving customer issues Experience with Microsoft Office using programs such as Access, Word, and Excel Experience completing and/or maintaining records and reports Experience interpreting and/or explaining policies, procedures, and laws Experience with letter writing, using correct spelling, punctuation, and proofreading Minimum Education and Experience Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both.
