Job Title: EKG Tech/Immunization Tech Department: Care Management Reports To: Department Manager Hours: Full Time, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Full Job Description Job Overview: Working closely with NBMC providers and clinic staff, this position supports patient care and clinic operations by providing EKG services, administering vaccines, completing required documentation, and assisting with patient check-in processes. Additional responsibilities include supporting the Heart Beats Food Pantry program, performing blood pressure screenings, and coordinating scheduling activities for EKG services and the Care Management team.

This role serves as a key resource in promoting efficient workflows, patient access to services, and a positive patient experience. The Care Manager may perform the following duties: Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) and ensure accurate documentation of results. Provide patient education and assist with the setup of home sleep studies, overnight oxygen monitoring, and Holter monitor services.

Administer vaccines in accordance with department standing orders and clinical protocols, ensuring complete and accurate documentation. Support patient care activities within the Blood Pressure Clinic and assist with Heart Beats Food Pantry services. Schedule appointments and coordinate patient access for EKG and Care Management services.

Check patients in for appointments, verify completion of required forms, and scan documentation into the electronic health record (EHR). Deliver exceptional customer service through professional communication, therapeutic listening, and compassionate interactions with patients, families, providers, and staff. Collect, document, and maintain patient data according to established protocols.

Complete required screenings in the EHR and promptly communicate abnormal findings to the provider. Assist Care Management patients with referrals, prior authorizations, durable medical equipment (DME) orders, patient assistance program applications, and other required paperwork. Follow established workflows to coordinate and support preventive healthcare services and participate in Quality Improvement initiatives.

Maintain and update community resource guides and organize patient education materials, handouts, and program supplies. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Comply with all NBMC policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and the organization's Code of Conduct. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA standards.

Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on providing exceptional patient care and service. Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Excellent computer skills, preferably with proficiency in using Excel, Word, and Epic electronic health record. Able to effectively communicate with others, both written and orally, while protecting patient confidentiality. Must possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple demands, and demonstrate successful time management skills.

Ability to show respect and sensitivity to cultural differences in both employees and patients. Knowledge and support of organization’s goals and values. Experience: At least 1 year of experience in direct patient care, or 1 year of coordination of care in a healthcare setting. Certification: Current Certified Clinical Medical Assistant; or Certified Nursing Assistant; Current Certified EKG Tech or completion of Traditional Health Worker training preferred.

Current healthcare level CPR certification required or must obtain within 3 months of hire. Current Oregon Driver License in good standing along with reliable and insured transportation.
